Chintaro has the ability to stop/bar/prevent a Client from being able to be tenanted, either for a set period of time (for example, until their previous arrears is paid off) or indefinitely (for example, lifetime ban for aggressive behaviour). You cannot bar someone who is a current Tenant, but you can bar a previous Tenant. All Clients begin with 'No Previous Barring' underneath their name on their Client screen.
This solution details how to:
- Apply a temporary barring
- Receive notification that a Client was previously barred
- Apply a permanent/lifelong barring to a Client
Apply a temporary barring
To apply a temporary barring, open the Client screen (Home > Clients > Manage Clients > Open Client screen).
Click the Barring function at the top of the screen in the additional functions:
The middle section of the screen changes to display the previous barring applied to this Client.
To enter a new period of temporary barring, in the line with the *, enter a Start Date, End Date, select a Reason for the barring (these reasons can be updated by your System Administrator in System Maintenance > Reference Tables > Barring), & add any additional Comments related to the barring.
Exit the screen to save. When a Client is in a current Barring period, whenever any Chintaro user opens their Client screen, it will display a warning message that the Client is currently barred:
The Client record will also display the barring status in red when a Client is Currently Barred:
Receive notification that a Client was previously barred
When a Client has been barred and the date is past the end date, each time a user opens the Client screen, it will warn them that the Client has been previously barred:
This will not prevent the Client from being Tenanted in the future, it is just a warning.
Apply a permanent/lifelong barring to a Client
To apply a lifelong barring, open the Client screen (Home > Clients > Manage Clients > Open Client screen).
Click the Barring function at the top of the screen in the additional functions:
The middle section of the screen changes to display the previous barring applied to this Client.
To enter a new period of permanent/lifelong barring, in the line with the *, enter a Start Date, and enter an End Date far in to the future (EG 01/01/2100).
Next, select a Reason for the barring (these reasons can be updated by your System Administrator in System Maintenance > Reference Tables > Barring), & add any additional Comments related to the barring.
Exit the screen to save. When a Client is in a current Barring period, whenever any Chintaro user opens their Client screen, it will display a warning message that the Client is currently barred:
The Client record will also display the barring status in red when a Client is Currently Barred:
If you try to create a tenancy for this Client, Chintaro will prevent you from doing so advising the Client is barred and cannot be tenanted.
