Deceased Tenant still showing on Statement

Modified on Tue, 14 Mar 2017 at 03:34 PM

If you have a Tenancy where there is one primary Tenant and one related Tenant and one of the Tenants passes away follow these steps to ensure they no longer appear on Tenancy statements.

E.g. Anna Citizen, a related tenant passed away and still appears on statements:

Related Tenant has passed away

1. Go to the deceased's client screen (Home Screen > Client > Manage Clients > Double click on the row to open the record). The client screen will open:

2. Remove the information in the Relationship to Tenant field so that it shows blank:

3. Click the Primary Tenant "Yes" box. This will 'break' the relationship so that this client will not show on any Tenancy Statements.

4. Inactive the client record by unticking the Active box at the bottom of the screen.

Once you have followed steps 1 to 4 the related tenant will no longer appear on any statements.

Primary Tenant has passed away

If the Primary Tenant has passed away you will need to swap the Primary Tenant with a Related Tenant in Chintaro before inactivating the client.

E.g. John Citizen, a primary tenant passed away and still appears on statements:

1.  Go to the Primary Tenant's Tenancy Record.

2.  Ensure the Related Tenant that you want to swap to be the Primary Tenant is displayed in the household section of the Tenancy Record.

If the person you want to make the Primary Tenant is not entered in this section, go to their Client Record and click Primary Tenant> No, to link the 2 people together and create a household.

3.  Double click on the Primary Tenants Name (in bold e.g. CITIZEN, John)

4.  A warning message will appear, stating that this will allow you to change the Primary Tenant for this Tenancy. Click Yes.

5.  Select the new Primary Tenant from the Related Tenants pop up box.

5.  Click Update.

6.  The Primary Tenant will now be swapped.

Once you have followed steps 1 to 4 the deceased tenant will no longer appear on any statements.
