Finance - Generating Rent in Bulk

Modified on Tue, 06 Sep 2022 at 01:31 PM

Providers can charge tenancies rent in bulk, either weekly or fortnightly. The frequency in which you generate rent is up to your organisational processes: some organisations will choose to generate rent every day, for those tenants whose rent has been charged to today. Other organisations will choose to generate rent for all tenants due that week, once a week. There is no right or wrong way to generate rent.

This solution covers:

Generating Rent Daily

To open the Generate Rent screen, from the Home screen, click Finance, then Rent Functions and Generate Rent.

If you wish to Generate Rent on a daily basis for those tenants who have been charged to today, click the black arrow down in the Rent Charged To column, click Date Filters and Today:

The Rent Generator screen will be filtered to show all Tenants whose rent has been charged to today:

Click Select ALL then click Generate Rent:

Chintaro will advise that rent has been calculated successfully:

Click Show All to return to the default view. The tenants whose rent was charged in the batch will now show a Rent Charged To date 7 or 14 days into the future (depending on your preferences).

Generating Rent Weekly

To open the Generate Rent screen, from the Home screen, click Finance, then Rent Functions and Generate Rent.

If you wish to Generate Rent on a weekly basis for those tenants who have been charged to today, click the black arrow down in the Rent Charged To column, click Date Filters and This Week:

The Rent Generator screen will be filtered to show all tenants whose rent has been charged to a date that falls within this week:

Click Select ALL then click Generate Rent:

Chintaro will advise that rent has been calculated successfully:

Click Show All to return to the default view. The tenants whose rent was charged in the batch will now show a Rent Charged To date 7 or 14 days into the future (depending on your preferences).

Aligning all tenants rent charges to the same date

You can forcibly align all tenant’s rent charges to fall on the same day of the week, as opposed to their rent calculated to date Note: forcing all rent charges to fall in to the same rent cycle is not recommended practice.

To forcibly align all Rent Charges to the same date, ensure that the tick box at the top of the screen is unticked:

The Rent Calculated To date at the top left of the screen indicates where your Tenant's rent has previously been charged to.

The Generate Rent To Date will show you the date the rent will be calculated to, and the Days Rent is the number of days of the rent charge.

The Include box on the left of the screen indicates which Tenants you will be generating rent for, and the default for these boxes is to be unticked. To generate rent for all Tenants, click Select ALL.

When you're ready to generate the rent for the next rent cycle, click Generate Rent.

Chintaro will advise that rent has been calculated successfully:
