Finance - Locking Tenancy Transactions to close a period

Modified on Tue, 6 Sep, 2022 at 1:37 PM

After you have reconciled your transactions in Chintaro with your bank account, the last step is to lock the transactions so that no changes can be made (no transactions added, edited, changed).

To lock the transactions, from the Home screen, click System Maintenance, then Preferences and Finance.

Go to the Close Period field. When you click in the field, you will see that this preference allows you to enter a date to lock financial transactions prior to, and including this date:

Enter the date you wish to lock the transactions at (the last day you have exported the transactions for) and Exit the screen will save.

NOTE: The System Administrator is able to reopen the period at any time, by going back to System Maintenance> Preferences> Finance> Close Period, and entering a date in the past. If the period is reopened, it is crucial that you go back to Preferences> Finance and lock it again (by entering a date) once you have completed what you need to do when the period was open.
